AGS Quiz

2008 brings the fifth annual AGS Quiz.

The aim of the quiz is to gather the Society members, their friends, their stuffed animals, their family, their navel lint and any other random people they're able to grab to join their team and answer a plethora of questions on a variety of fun, obscure, or random subjects.

The quiz is largely dominated by general knowledge questions, spun in a slightly geeky way, so that both gamers and non-gamers stand a chance of answering correctly. That said, there is always the Gamer Advantage round, which gives a slight advantage to the gamers on the team.

Snacks will be provided by the AGS, but in order to fund the prize we will be asking everyone who joins a team to contribute a single pound of your Earth money to the kitty, which I am presently planning to divide 75% to the winning team, 15% to the second-place team and 10% to the runners-up. The losing team will receive a prize of some description, oh yes. Teams usually come up with clever/silly names for themselves to add to the fun, one example is a team of four calling themselves The Cardassian Five.

Last year we also extracted some of our funds from the SU and used it to fund a £50 top prize in vouchers at Westgate Games, and I hope to do the same this year... or better! At the moment the issue of prize money is therefore slightly up in the air.
