President Candidate John Bishop
From Kent Adventure Gaming Society Wiki
In my short time as President, I have organised and run numerous events for the Adventure Gaming Society. The Player’s Master class and Games Masters’ Master class were both hugely successful; so much so that a repeat of both these events is currently being planned for next academic year. Also, the Games Masters’ Master class has inspired five people to run games next year. This I feel is a huge success since these new games will complement the large number of already great games being run by the Society. The Board and Game Event was such an exceptional success that it now a monthly feature on the A.G.S calendar. Also, the Joint Convention with Anime and SFX Societies was enjoyed by everyone that attended it and the committee of both those Societies want this convention to be an annual fixture between our three Societies.
However, my time as President has not just been concentrated upon Events for the Society. I have also achieved other things that have benefited the library. With the help and aid of our Librarian, Graham, I have changed the storage of the A.G.S library. The books are now stored in strong, durable plastic boxes and sealed within plastic, watertight bags. This means that the A.G.S library will be preserved for a very long time so that future members of the A.G.S can enjoy the books that this Society has culminated over the years. I have also organised the subsidization of the Dragon Droppings newspaper so that it can now be printed without its editor worrying about personal cost. Also, I have managed to convince the union to allow us to use part of our budget as prizes. The first use of this will be at our annual quiz since the Union has allowed us to spend £50 as the main prize. So now our budget can be used in more ways that benefit the society. Finally, with the aid of Adam, we have ensured that wargaming is returning to a weekly slot on campus.
I have also made plans for the society next year. I have managed to acquire two guest speakers; Jacob Klunder and Chris Hartford. Jacob Klunder has written many publications for White-Wolf’s Vampire while Chris Hartford has written books for various role-playing systems. Both will be giving a talk about role-playing, freelancing and just stuff in general. Also, my experience at Re-freshers fair has given me a lot of ideas and initiative for next years Freshers fair that will make sure that the society will get the coverage that it deserves.
As you can see, in my short time as President I have achieved many different things for the benefit of the Adventure Gaming Society. Hopefully, you will elect me again as President since you all know that I can achieve things. Next year I will not only continue to achieve what I have already done for this Society but also continue to build upon the successes that have already occurred.
